Karzai Wins Afghan Election, Ban Visits

Afghanistan’s election commission has declared incumbent Hamid Karzai the winner of the country’s presidential election, after his opponent pulled out. Visiting Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pledged UN Support. (2 November 2009)
